About Lauren

Through prenatal yoga, doula support, and childbirth education Lauren will assist you in uncovering and discovering those instinctual capabilities rooted so deep within. As a guide for the whole family through the birthing experience will provide non-bias support, love, and compassion.

Lauren's vision is for families to feel empowered by their birth experience, and as result, collectively change the way society views childbirth. Whether we meet on the yoga mat, in the classroom, at your home, or in the hospital she is honored and grateful to be apart of your unique birth story.

As owner of Root To Rise Birth LLC, Lauren provides support to birthing folks through prenatal yoga classes, doula services, and private childbirth education.

She intuitively has always believed the breath is the most important part of the birthing process, and is the most powerful catalyst to having a peaceful birth.

Lauren Hodson - Sweet Momma Yoga - Lauren_H_About_section

She is a certified birth doula through DONA International, and Childbirth Educator through ProDoula.

She pursued prenatal yoga teacher training with Elise Bowerman at Sweet Momma Yoga, which planted a seed to pursue the 200-Hr yoga teacher training with Strongheart Yoga.

Lauren is a registered yoga teacher (RYT 200) through Yoga Alliance, and a trauma informed instructor TCTSY (The Trauma Center of Trauma Sensitive Yoga).

Although she has acquired a deep well of knowledge and wisdom to help guide birthing folks through her teachings, she hopes to stay curious and to always be a student.

Off the Mat

Lauren works for a non-profit focused on substance use and mental wellness. She is passionate about meeting people where they are at through street outreach, fulfilling basic needs through case management, and then integrating accessible holistic wellness services as regular programming.

She created and implemented a yoga program, which now teaches at three different non-profits across Macomb and Wayne Counties in Michigan.

None of this feels like "work" to her, but when she is not "working", she really enjoys spending time with her 10 year old son, fiancé, and pupper doggo. She finds comfort in nature trails, books, podcasts, movement and mobility through lifting heavy, and dancing in the kitchen while cooking. Currently Lauren is in school full-time pursuing a degree in Health Sciences with a concentration on Holistic Health.

Where did everyone go?

You need more help after birth than before. When you’re pregnant, people open doors, carry things, and smile at how much you glow. Once baby comes, where do all those people go? You’re on your own now, expected to know everything, and take care of your baby like every other mom. As if doing it all yourself is some bullsh*t right of passage. We all love baby, but let’s not forget about mom.
